Borno State is situated in the north eastern part of Nigeria. The main ethnic tribe in the state is the Kanuri ethnic group and the religion in predominantly moslem.The capital and largest city in Borno State, Maiduguri, is also the main industrial centre.
The main industries of Borno State are agriculture and livestock farming. The state also has a number of fishery and mineral resources, traditions and cultural heritage. Agricultural produce includes millet, rice, cassava, date palms, fruits vegetables, sorghum, wheat, sweet potatoes, cowpeas, sugar cane, groundnut, cotton.
Mineral resources also abound in Borno State, for example, diatomite, potassium/sodium, clay, limestone and uranium. Crude oil is also explored in the Chad Basin Area.
