Jigawa State is situated in the central northern part of Nigeria. The main ethnic group in Jigawa State is Hausa and the indigenes are predominantly Moslems.

Agriculture and cattle rearing are the main occupations of the people of Jigawa State. Crops produced include maize, millet, guinea corn, cotton and groundnuts.
