Oyo State is situated in the south western part of Nigeria. The Yoruba people of Oyo State are of five major ethnic groups, namely, Oyo, Osun, Oke Ogun, Ife/Ijesa and Igbonna.

The capital of Oyo State, Ibadan, is said to be one of the most populous city in black Africa with about two and a half million people.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the people of Oyo State and crops produced in Oyo state include maize, yam, cassava, millet, rice, plantains, cocoa, palm produce and cashew nuts.
