Taraba State is situated in the central eastern part of Nigeria. Taraba State is home to a large number of ethnic groups, including Chamba, Mumuyes, Mambila, Wurkums, Fulanis, Jukun, Jenjo,Kuteb, Ichen,Tiv and Ndoro. The common language is Hausa.The major occupation of the people of Taraba State is agriculture. Crops produced in Taraba State include coffee, tea, groundnuts, cotton, maize, rice, sorghum, millet, cassava, and yam. Live stock rearing and fishing is also carried out on a large scale in Taraba State. There are also dairy farms in Jalingo, Gembu and Nguorje towns of Taraba State.
Other occupational activities such as pottery, cloth-weaving, dyeing, mat-making, carving, embroidery and blacksmithing are also carried out in Taraba State.
