Description:
Mondays have now been declared a day of fasting in Cross River State. This was announced during the recently concluded “Cross River Prays” programme. This year’s event, with its theme as “The Rain,” was hosted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Cross River Province.
The prayer event, which was facilitated by the Church at Hephzibah Government House Calabar, featured ministration, praise and worship, word, exhortation and testimonies.
Cross River State Governor, Senator, Dr. Liyel Imoke, in his address lauded the people of the State for their steadfastness and commitment to governance.
He prayed that God would continue to preserve and keep all the citizens of the State, emphasising that his confidence is fuelled by the fact that God had a reason for choosing him to serve the people of the State and that the same God would continue to protect, sustain and provide for him and all the citizens of Cross River State.
He was of the view that “Cross River Prays” is prophetic and is optimistic that the “rain” of goodness, favour, and faithfulness had started to manifest. He urged the people to remain steadfast in their prayers for the growth of the State.
Speaking during the charge and exhortation session, Obioma Liyel- Imoke, the initiator of Cross River Pray programmeme and Wife of the Governor assured the mammoth crowd at the main bowl of the Cultural Centre, venue of the prayer event, that the time for the “mighty rain” had come. She said that the aim of the programmeme is to stabilize the State and meet the needs and the aspirations of the people.
Last year’s event, which held in December, was a four-day programme. Imoke shed more light on this, explaining that she had a vision where God clearly revealed His plan to her. “This year you are going to have a four-day prayer programmeme because I want to meet with my children, I want to show them who their God is and take away their shame.”
The Governor’s wife was emphatic that this year’s first quarter of Cross River Pray is the offshoot of what happened in December. She said there shall be a “mighty rain” upon the State by God, quoting scriptures from the bible, “Then I shall give you rain in due season, the land shall yield her increase and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.” She urged the people to be expectant and also declared the year 2010 as the year of God’s visitation on his people and advised them to pray ceaselessly. “We are in the days and time of the deliverance of the Lord, because we have carried out every single instructions ordered by Him”.
The Governor’s wife who said that God prefers obedience to sacrifice assured that God is willing to abide and stand by Cross River State to show his glory because Crossriverians have blown their trumpets and as such God would cause the heavy and mighty rain of peace, progress, and prosperity to fall upon his people in the State. “This is the season the Lord has chosen to give us this rain and his accelerated blessing”.
She admonished the people to go into agriculture. “God has blessed the land of Cross River State for increase and abundance both to the Government and her people, the time of austerity is over, because God’s presence is guaranteed in the State and in the presence of God there is always fullness of joy”.
Pastor Cherry Hill of United States of America, who also spoke at the event said that Cross River State is blessed with the greatest leadership and integrity, worthy of emulation.
“There is a crossover in Cross River State. Be prepared to receive the rain. If you want something you never had, you’ve got to do something you’ve never done”. She gave the people hope that the rain, which is both of a spiritual and physical nature, has already come and would cleanse and rebuild the State and its people as well as reposition them for continuous irrevocable blessings.
Different prayer points on God’s mercy, peace, wisdom for good governance for the State and Nigeria, exploration of hidden treasures in Cross River State amongst others were rendered by Pastors of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Cross River province that was the host for this first quarter of Cross River Prays.
