The Carnival Calabar Queen Pageant (CCQ) is set for its fifth showing. With “Where grace meets purpose” as its theme this year, the organizers say it will be a phenomenal event.

Birthed in December 2007 by the Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Obioma Liyel- Imoke, the pageant has given wings to Mothers Against Child Abandonment (MACA); another of her initiatives, aimed at providing shelter for abandoned babies, by producing capable spokespersons for the project.

The Carnival Queen is a role model to teenagers, preaching abstinence on advocacy tours across the State.

From inception, CCQ has been open to all Nigerian ladies aged 18-27 years and has produced four remarkable queens.

According to Enuma Chigbo of Minds of Creation, one of the event coordinators, entry forms have been sold nationwide and auditions will be held in Lagos, Abuja and Calabar from November 28 to November 30.

For the first time ever, contestants will be dressed by Vlisco, makers of high end real Dutch wax, whose management looks forward to a fruitful partnership.
