New Central Bank of Nigeria Governor - PPA Congratulates Sanusi

11 June 2009

Description:

The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) has congratulated the newly appointed governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

In a letter of congratulations to Sanisu following his endorsement by the Senate, the PPA National Chairman, Mr Clement Ebri, said the confirmation hearing of the new CBN governor left him with no doubt that the appointment was most deserving as it is 'certainly one that meets squarely the criterion of merit.'

Ebri expressed confidence that Mr Sanusi "will provide the right leadership and direction to stabilize and reposition the banking sector in the country."

Ebri who is also an economist and a journalist, pointed out that Sanusi demonstrated a deep knowledge and firm grasp of the challenges of the high office of CBN governor, adding that Sanusi has the capacity to take the apex bank to a higher level.

"It was a great delight to observe your erudite, sagacious, professional and confident deposition before the Senate, thus making your confirmation a rather easy and smooth encounter, devoid of unnecessary rancour," the party maintained.

Ebri who felicitated with Sanusi on behalf of PPA's National Working Committee (NWC) hoped that he will provide the leadership and direction that would stabilize and reposition the banking and financial sector in the country.

The party further wished the new CBN helmsman success in his illustrious career.
