Celebrity Judges to attend Calabar Queen Pageant

Legendary sports Ambassador John Fashanu, renowned talk show host Adesuwa Onyenokwe, veteran actress Joke Silva, amongst others will be judges at this year’s Carnival Calabar Queen Pageant (CCQ).

“I would love to be a judge at the pageant”, says Fashanu. Fashanu, who was a judge at the Miss World Pageant and is currently the Special Adviser to the President on the 2010 World cup says being a judge at the CCQ Pageant gives him an opportunity to be part of the renowned Carnival Calabar Festival. “I have never visited Calabar before and this presents a fantastic opportunity to be part of the festival."

Joke Silva, who has also been a judge at the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant, looks forward to being part of the event. She says, “I feel honoured that the organisers of the CCQ have asked me to be a judge at this year’s event.” She believes pageants are an ideal platform for young ladies to make their mark in society. According to her, intelligence, attractiveness and a great sense of humour are qualities a beauty queen should have.

Adesuwa Oyenokwe shares a similar opinion. She believes a beauty queen should be intelligent and articulate. This year’s winner will walk away with a brand new car worth up to N4million, a return ticket to the United Kingdom and N2million cash. The winner will also be an ambassador for tourism in Cross River State and the Spokesperson for Mothers against Child Abandonment (MACA), an initiative of the Wife of the Cross River State Governor, Obioma Liyel-Imoke.

Imoke is excited and optimistic about the forth coming pageant, which will hold on 19th December at the grand Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort. “The Pageant since inception has produced two lovely ladies who in their capacity as MACA Ambassadors have served as the perfect role models for youths in the State.”

“The winner this year will be even busier, with the rapid influx of tourists to the State, and MACA’s extensive rehabilitation programme”, she says.
